Support for prospective students
Universities South Africa oversees support for learners who aim at studying at a South African university. It manages projects which deal with matters ranging from career guidance to matric exemptions.

THE MATRICULATION BOARD

South African Learners

The Matriculation Board works primarily with learners who did not achieve a matriculation exemption.

Foreign students

The Matriculation Board will help you assess your current qualifications to determine if they are suitable for South African universities and, if not, how to go about getting the correct exemption. If you have any concerns about your matriculation exemption or need to find out how to get an exemption please visit the Matriculation Board website.

NATIONAL BENCHMARK TEST (NBT)

Although the National Benchmark Tests Project (NBTP) is a key project of Universities South Africa, it is conducted in collaboration with the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHED) at the University of Cape Town (UCT). The tests are therefore co-ordinated by the CHED.
