The Board decided that USAf, through the Future of Work Strategy Group (which is in the process of being formed), should seek a meeting with the Human Resources Development Council in the Presidency about the sector’s contribution to national skills development and to determine where universities could be more responsive to labour market needs, especially in the scarce skills areas. The new strategy group will also attempt to determine the nation’s priority research areas so that new research at public universities can be channelled in those directions.
